We are excited about our new release! We would like to inform you about the changes regarding installation and the requirements for your current system(s), that will be taking place with our 2018 version of SOLIDWORKS Product Line.

SOLIDWORKS 2018
Installation Changes for SOLIDWORKS 2018 and later Releases:

  • 2018 SOLIDWORKS SolidNetwork License Manager will not install on the Windows 2008 R2 Operating System.2018 SOLIDWORKS SolidNetwork License Manager will be the last version of SOLIDWORKS to support Windows Server 2012. Windows Server 2012 R2 will be supported for an additional year.
  • 2018 will not install Workgroup Server or Client software. The product has been retired. The equivalent is PDM Standard, also included with SOLIDWORKS Professional. Please contact Services@Dasi-Solutions.com to discuss any migration and implementation needs.
  • 2018 SOLIDWORKS will be the last release to support Microsoft Excel 2010 and Microsoft Word 2010
  • SOLIDWORKS Visualize and Visualize Boost are now available from the Installation manager as part of the Individual installation process
  • SOLIDWORKS CAM is now available as an add-in to all versions of SOLIDWORKS Client Packages in 2018 on an active subscription service contract.

 

SOLIDWORKS Requirements for your 2018 Client System(s):

  • Windows 7 SP1, 8.1 and 10
  • 8GB (or higher) RAM
  • Intel or AMD with SSE2 support, 64-bit operating system
  • Internet Explorer 11, Windows 2012 (or newer)
  • Microsoft Excel 2010 (or newer)
  • Microsoft Word 2010 (or newer)

SOLIDWORKS Product Data Management 2018
Installation Changes for SOLIDWORKS PDM 2018 and later Releases:

  • 2018 SOLIDWORKS will not install Workgroup.
  • 2018 SOLIDWORKS PDM will not install on Windows 2008 R2
  • 2018 SOLIDWORKS PDM is the last release to support Windows server 2012. Windows Server 2012 R2 will be supported for an additional year. • 2018 SOLIDWORKS PDM (Archive Server & Database Server) will not support SQL 2008 R2. SQL 2014 Standard is included in the licensing for PDM 2018.

  • 8GB (or higher) RAM
  • 10GB (or higher) disk space
  • Intel or AMD with SSE2 support, 64-bit operating system

Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit Operating System
SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP5 is the last release to support the Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system. SOLIDWORKS 2019 products will not install on Windows 8.1.

Windows Server 2012 Operating System
SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP5 is the last release to support the Windows Server 2012 operating system. SOLIDWORKS 2019 products will not install on Windows Server 2012.

Windows Server 2012 R2 Operating System
SOLIDWORKS 2019 SP5 is the last release to support the Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system. SOLIDWORKS 2020 products will not install on Windows Server 2012 R2.

Microsoft Excel 2010 and Word 2010
SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP5 is the last release to support Microsoft Excel 2010 and Word 2010. Microsoft Excel 2013 and Word 2013 SOLIDWORKS 2020 SP5 is the last release to support Microsoft Excel 2013 and Word 2013.
