SOLIDWORKS 2019: Interference Detection for Multibody Parts
What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2019
In SOLIDWORKS 2019 the Interference Detection function has been improved to work with multibody parts. This is helpful when working with weldments and checking for properly trimmed parts.
To illustrate how to use Interference Detection on multibody parts, we will use the sample part provided by SOLIDWORKS. The default location for those files is system_dir:\Users\Public\Public Documents\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS 2019\samples\whatsnew\ and we will be using the Main.sldprt file in the Parts folder.

Once the part is open, click on Interference Detection (Evaluate Toolbar) or Tools > Evaluate > Interference Detection.

In the property manager, main.SLDPRT is listed in the Selected Bodies box.

In the Property Manager, select the Excluded Bodies box and select the RH feature in the flyout tree. The RH feature is an inserted part. Interference Detection can check or ignore parts and bodies that are inserted using Insert Part.

The results show where the bodies interfere.
