SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation 2019: Heat Flux Plots
What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2019

Where is the heat coming from, and where is it going?
With the new Flux Plots in Flow Simulation 2019, you can easily explore the heat path in a visual graphic like the one shown in Figure 1 below. This tool can help you understand your thermal design faster than before and allow you toeasily come up with ways to improve the design.

From the section of the plot shown in Figure 2 below, we can quickly see that most of the heat generated by the main chip transfers to the heat sink (2.95W) and almost all of the remaining heat transfers down to the PCB (1.83W). Some of the smaller heat pathways (~0.22W) have been filtered out of the graphic for simplicity. This might include trace radiation or convection through small surfaces.
