In addition to the Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program, DASI Soltuions has now launched a Pre-Apprenticeship program in response to the skilled trades gap that has been effecting both the manufacturing and engineering industries across the region. This program is designed to enhance general skills & knowledge of its participants in order to prepare them for jobs in the engineering and manufacturing industries.

This program was rolled out to Metro Detroit area individuals who are eager to start a career in the growing & rewarding field of 3D CAD Design, and all training classes are being held at Focus: HOPE in Detroit. Structured as a bootcamp style, this program offers not only CAD training, but also other life skills, education & OSHA training. In addition to the internationally recognized SOLIDWORKS Certifications, participants of the program will have the ability to obtain other certifications, including:

  • NIMS (National Institute of Metalworking Skills)
  • Customer Service
  • OSHA Hazardous Situation – MIOSHA

The program runs for a total of 6 weeks, whereas the students will attend classes Monday – Friday for a total of 192 hours. In suit with DASI’s Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program, this program is grant funded for all individuals, falling under the American Apprenticeship Initiative Grant.

Following graduation day, on August 25, there will be employer interviews held at FOCUS: Hope, where the graduates will be hoping to find permanent employment. Interviews will be held in 2 hour incriments and will be structured on an individual basis for each employer.

"This pre-apprenticeship program is a key component to help the supply and demand ratio for designers. We've been increasing demand for years; we needed an increase in supply” stated Adam Majkowski, Apprenticeship Specialist at DASI Solutions.

Company Celebrates Longevity & Growth with Redesigned Look - PONTIAC, MI, January 26, 2017

DASI Solutions, a local Engineering software provider, has launched a redesigned website in collaboration with its expanded footprint and acquisition of a SOLIDWORKS Reseller on the West Coast. Tailoring to its expanding audience, the company wanted to enhance the look, engagement and output of the site, showcasing DASI’s culture. With many tech videos and webinar links for customers to sift through, the company decided it was time to make the site more manageable for any visitors. After more than 20 years in business, what better way to celebrate than with a new look that combines the two divisions together under a single brand!

Servicing the West Coast and Midwest regions, DASI Solutions prides itself on being a family owned, small business that focuses on finding the best solution for customer challenges. Specializing in CAD, CAM and PDM, DASI Solutions offers the complete solution for engineering and product design in order to bring better products to market. Its product offerings range from CAD implementation for the designing engineer, educational software for K-12 and universities, software integration and support, as well as 3D printing as a service. DASI is highly proactive in STEM initiatives as well as the National Apprenticeship Movement. Expanding its staff to almost 80 employees, the company has grown from a small family owned business to a successful organization.

DASI Solutions is excited for the redesign of the website and being able to showcase more of its team and company culture. “I consider our company culture to be that of a tight family that leverages the unique strengths of the individuals along their career pathways,” said David Darbyshire, Co-Owner of DASI Solutions. “If you dig deep into the personal background of DASI you will learn that many of the staff members have close ties to one another. Most of the team has come to the organization via a personal referral from another staff member or because they experienced the family culture from the outside.”

Winning a customer satisfaction award in 2014, DASI Solutions has demonstrated its devotion to customers the best way they know how: treating them like part of the family. This new website will allow the company to gain a deeper relationship and understanding of the many visitors that come to the site. The biggest advancement of the new website is that it will be more responsive to the various devices (mobile phones and tablets).

The company is excited to have this site off the ground and running. This is just the beginning for the new DASI Solutions website. The team has a number of ideas for future enhancements, including more customer-centric video content, enhanced customer support features and a widened online store, tailored to the individual customer. The possibilities are endless; the company as a whole is very excited to walk this journey with not only the employees, but the customers who they do business with every day

DASI Solutions Graduates First Apprentice with Journeyman's Card

DASI Solutions graduated its very first apprentice last week for the completion of the Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program. During their third annual STEM Summit last Thursday, Annette Norris and David Darbyshire from DASI Solutions, along with Dave Jackson from the Department of Labor, congratulated Kevin Laubenthal on his accomplishment.

Kevin began his Apprenticeship journey in July of 2015, soon after the Industrial Design Technician program was developed and launched. His final completion date was August 4, 2016. Kevin’s Capstone project, which is the “give-back” portion of the program, was completed with FIRST Robotics Team #4381 Gull Lake High School. He is a CSWP (Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional) and has been using the software for many years. Moving forward, Kevin will take his new knowledge and continue to apply it towards his career as a Lead Development Engineer/Designer at W.K. Kellogg Institute for Food and Nutrition Research.

DASI Solutions has partnered with Focus:Hope and JAMA in the American Apprenticeship Initiative, receiving grant funding for companies and participants who qualify. The Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program is a 2 year program that combines classroom training with on-the-job training and a Capstone Project geared toward helping to close the recent skilled trade’s gap left by the retiring “baby boomers”. “Kevin and Kellogg Company have been a pleasure to work with through this process, and we are pleased that he was able to be our first graduate,” said Annette Norris, Apprenticeship Manager at DASI Solutions.
