PONTIAC, MI, March 19, 2018 – Later this week, DASI Solutions & Focus: HOPE will be graduating their second cohort of students who were enrolled in their Pre-Apprenticeship Program. The graduation will take place this Thurday, March 22nd at Focus: HOPE in Detroit.

This program was developed to help bridge the skilled trade’s gap that has been affecting the manufacturing and engineering industries across the region. Unlike the Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program (also offered through DASI & Focus: HOPE), this 10 week course is designed to enhance general skills & knowledge of its participants in order to prepare them for jobs in the engineering and manufacturing industries.

To book-end the process, the day after the Pre-Apprenticeship graduation, DASI Solutions & Focus: HOPE will be conducting a Reverse Job Fair for the graduates. The graduates have been trained for 10 weeks; they have had 100 hours of SolidWorks instruction with many more hours practiced at home. In addition to that, the students have also had 100+ hours of instruction in fundamentals such as Blueprints, Integrated Descriptive Geometry, Customer Service and GD & T.

The Reverse Job Fair will consist of 15 candidates who will be ready and waiting to meet with potential employers with their resumes, credentials & portfolios. Employers will have the opportunity to conduct informal interviews on the spot or invite the candidates to a formal interview at a later date.

“Pre-apprenticeship training is an efficient avenue to help build a pipeline of talent that leads directly to the industry’s needs,” stated Adam Majkowski, Apprenticeship Specialist at DASI Solutions. “It is the best way to offer hands-on training to career-ready individuals and I am excited to see the success of this program, knowing that we are helping to provide a larger qualified talent pool for the future of both the engineering and manufacturing industries.”

For more information about DASI’s upcoming cohorts of the pre-apprenticeship program, or if you are interested in participating in one of the employer interviews, please contact Annette Norris at annette@dasi-solutions.com.

subscriptionawardsPONTIAC, MI, February 28, 2018 – Earlier this month, DASI Solutions attended SOLIDWORKS World 2018 in Los Angeles, California. Thousands of SOLIDWORKS users, enthusiasts, resellers and supporters attended the much-anticipated annual convention. DASI Solutions walked away this year with some of the most sought-after awards, solidifying the company’s position as an industry leader.

One of the awards that the DASI team is most excited about this year is the
Model Mania award. John MacArthur, resident Service Team Manager (formerly Application Engineer) at DASI Solutions, took first place this year, giving the team back to back wins in 2017 and 2018. The Model Mania competition occurs every year at SOLIDWORKS World, showcasing the contestants’ modeling skills with a focus on speed and accuracy. Contestants are to model a part from a print (and rapid prototype), then make changes to the model based on a design change print. Finally, contestants run Finite Element Analysis on the part to test its factor of safety. Time limit for all three pieces is 20 minutes, and only models that are done exactly correct are counted. Three prizes are awarded to the contestants with the fastest 3 times.

With the conclusion of this year’s contest, DASI Solutions is currently the most winning reseller in the history of the contest. Darin Grosser, one of the longest-tenured Application Engineers with DASI, was the first ever Model Mania Champion. The company has also had two Application Engineers in the top three of the competition on two separate occasions: Darin Grosser and John MacArthur in 2008, and Shaun Bentley and Darin Grosser in 2017. When asked about his thoughts regarding the competition, John MacArthur

stated, “I like the Model Mania competition because I enjoy the challenge of testing my skills on the fly. Because of this, it’s right in my wheelhouse. I’ve won it this year and in 2015. I also placed third in 2008. As the Services Manager at DASI, I challenge all of my Application Engineers to participate. I feel it keeps them sharp with the software that we’re using on a daily basis. To best support or customers, we need to be the subject matter experts and adaptable with little prep time. This competition shows that we are just that.”

While Model Mania was one of DASI’s most exciting awards won, it wasn’t the only. This year, DASI Solutions walked away with a total of nine different awards, which included:
