DASI Solutions Hosts 3rd Annual STEM Summit
This Thursday, August 18, DASI Solutions will be hosting their 3rd annual STEM Summit. This event will be taking place at the Lafayette Grande, just across the street from DASI’s Downtown Pontiac Headquarters, at 12:30pm.
The event will kick off with food and networking opportunities. Following those, attendees will then be viewing presentations on both the new edition of SOLIDWORKS Education as well as SOLIDWORKS Simulation tools, presented by two of our in-house SOLIDWORKS certified application engineers. Darin Grosser and Shaun Bentley will showcase new features, capabilities and demonstrations of each product. Like in year’s past, DASI’s STEM Summit will introduce and update attendees on different STEM competitions and initiatives that take place throughout the state each year. Some of the topics to be covered include FIRST Robotics, Formula SAE, SkillsUSA, ASBE Design Challenge and MITES. New this year, there will be special emphasis on Apprenticeship and skilled trades. DASI launched their Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program in 2015, and has paired up with FOCUS: Hope and JAMA in the American Apprenticeship Initiative to received grant funding for any participant or company that qualifies.
This is one of DASI’s favorite events to host; it is a great event that brings business, community and education together in an effort to collaborate and strategize for future success. “Hosting our STEM Summit gives DASI an opportunity to present STEM related topics that could potentially be a catalyst moving forward in the effort to close the skilled trade’s gap that is greatly affecting the engineering and manufacturing workforce today,” said David Darbyshire, Co-Owner of DASI Solutions.

DASI Solutions Acquires Digital Dimensions
SOLIDWORKS Reseller Expands Footprint with Purchase of West Coast Reseller
DASI Solutions (DASI), a charter Professional Channel reseller of Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD and engineering development solutions, has expanded its reach through the purchase of Digital Dimensions (DDI), a SOLIDWORKS reseller with headquarters in San Diego. With Digital Dimensions as a division of DASI Solutions, the company has expanded its North American footprint to include Michigan, Indiana, Arizona and California.
“We are happy to welcome Digital Dimensions into the DASI family, along with their customers,” said Richard Darbyshire, Co-Owner of DASI Solutions. “Both of our companies have been part of the SOLIDWORKS community since the beginning and we share a common history and vision devoted to supporting our customers, first and foremost. We look forward to working with the Digital Dimensions team and helping them to serve their customers as a local technology partner.”
DASI Solutions was one of the original SOLIDWORKS resellers, dating back to 1995. Today, DASI has four full service offices in the Great Lakes Region serving commercial and educational customers in Emerging Sectors, including Automotive, Defense, Medical, Consumer Products, Robotics and Academic Research. DASI currently employs a highly respected group Applications, Training and Technical Support Engineers, many of whom possess the highest levels of certification: SOLIDWORKS Elite Application Engineer and Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert.
Brian Findley of Digital Dimensions will remain on board as the manager of operations on the west coast. “DASI Solutions is an exceptional company and a premiere SOLIDWORKS VAR,” stated Findley. “The integration of the two companies will enhance our customer focus and scale us for the future. I am excited to join with the new DASI leadership in this new partnership.”
Becoming a larger organization is key to continued success in the ever-changing engineering technology industry. The acquisition of DDI doubles the number of resources available in key areas of customer service, technical support and new product engagement. The combined organization will be able to leverage its expanded business development resources to better serve customers through the introduction and implementation of innovative SOLIDWORKS solutions.
DASI Solutions Receives Grant
DASI Solutions, in partnership with Focus: HOPE and JAMA (Jackson Area Manufacturers Association), has been awarded $3 Million in federal grants as part of the American Apprenticeship Initiative. The three organizations have paired together to provide individuals several different apprenticeship opportunities, career pathways and articulation to higher education programs. Collectively, these organizations will help prepare residents of Southeast Michigan for jobs in advanced manufacturing and information technology.
DASI Solutions launched its U.S. Department of Labor recognized Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program in 2015. This is a two year program that includes classroom learning and on the job mentoring to become a highly skilled employee. During the program, the apprentice will have the opportunity to earn internationally recognized SOLIDWORKS Certifications in addition to obtaining their US Department of Labor Journeyperson credentials. The Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program provides specialized training through DASI/SOLIDWORKS that will not only connect employers with the next generation of skilled workers, but also allow a re-set of skills for those looking to get back into careers as a Designing Engineer. “Our Industrial Design Technician Apprenticeship Program has the ability to train employees for the future,” says Annette Norris, Business Development Manager for Education. “The skilled trade’s gap is becoming more prominent in Michigan and beyond, and we would love nothing more but to be part of the solution! Here at DASI, we believe apprenticeship is the answer.”
As a recipient of the American Apprenticeship Initiative grand funding, DASI Solutions has the ability to help offset the cost 23% - 47% for each class, per person. Enrollment is now open for each of the programs through the above mentioned companies.
